We rebuild and repair about 40 carburetors a year for tractors, cars and trucks. Our rebuild process is very thorough and similar to how we treat distributors:
1. Disassemble.
2. Soak for 24 hours in alcohol, NEVER in that caustic cleaner!
3. Dry for an hour in a 150°F convection oven.
4. Blast with baking soda, NEVER with sand!
5. Inspect/measure all parts.
6. Replace or repair parts as needed.
7. Reassemble.
8. Adjust.
If necessary, because of our well supplied machine shop and our experience, we can make parts for them that you can't buy anywhere else.
Example: We had a TSX-13 Marvel Schebler carb from a 1939 John Deere "L". The choke shaft was broken in pieces. Obviously, the carb was unusable without it. Only about 4,000 of this model carb were made, so it was critical to repair it. Between our CAD and toolroom capabilities, we designed and built the tools we needed, and made a new shaft.

We've used the same tooling to manufacture special replacement "double bell crank" versions used on, for example, the wartime Ford 2N. These tractors had a choke control on the dash as well as on the right dogleg to facilitate starting up while hand cranking the engine.
